The Pennsylvania Chapter of APA is a chapter of the American Planning Association (APA).

A planet of smarter cities By 2050, city dwellers are expected to make up 70 percent of the Earth's total population, spiking from approximately 3.3 billion people today to a breathtaking 6.4 billion. That gives us only 40 years to prepare our cities and our planet for an inflow of new inhabitants comparable to more than 10 United States of Americas. How do we prepare our cities to absorb this many people? How must our cities transform to handle exponentially greater economic, societal and environmental complexity? Let's build a smarter planet, city by city.

Mission Define and promote the principles of Smart Growth in Lancaster County and, as may be requested, within immediately surrounding areas/regions. Vision To assure that the principles of Smart Growth are embraced by all stakeholders and that, to the extent possible, all future growth will be Smart Growth, the principal functions of the Coalition for Smart Growth, a 501.C.3 organization, are Education and Advocacy. These functions are provided through the Coalition, which strives to be seen as a diverse, unique, and autonomous organization. To support these functions, the Coalition, through its Strategic Plan of 2005, has established three standing Committees to facilitate the work of the organization in concert with its Executive Director. These Committees include Education, Communication, and Structure/Finance.

Our Mission is Simple: We do it through easy single stream recycling, and rewarding good recycling efforts. Once we are all recycling . . . who knows?

The Lancaster County Planning Commission (LCPC) is the only agency that comprehensively addresses county-wide planning issues. The Commission combines county policies with federal and state planning responsibilities to support the application of county-wide plans for the future.
