With Egypt and the Middle East erupting in protests and in some cases violence, I have reflected upon the simple act of our First President

George Washington. At the end of his Second Term as President, he voluntarity chose to retun to civilian life and put the fate of this county in the hands of the people. He could have ruled as a "President for Life." He had brought enough unity to the county to hellp is establish itself.
Washngton did many things in his life, He was a successful farmer, a surveyor, a military leader and finally a polital leader. I would argue this greatest act was that in stepping down from the pinnacle of power he stood on. He set the prescident for future leaders.Now Washngton and America were and are not without their flaws. Washington was a slave owner and America fought a Civil War over this issue. Still, when you witness the outcry of people seeking freedom from "elected" political leaders and those not elected, we have to marvel at his foresight and integretiy.
