When we read the news, we see fraud, theft and other illegal activities on fairly regular basis. In the public sector, because it involves public money almost every violation makes the news.

There is good reason for this.In the private sector, you hear only about the largest or most outrageous instances.
William D. Wright, from Fisher & Phillips, LLP spoke on this issue at the GFOA-PA in State College on May 5, 2010. He discussed the issues that arise for public employers when confronted with employee fraud and theft issues. The session dealt with the liability issues, dealing with law enforcement and how to address losses as well as employment issues dealing with employee termination for any issue.
