Fraudulent activies occur in both the public and private sector. The weaknesses in internal controls that can foster an environment conducive to such activities can be avoided. The session focused on the unique characteristics of the public sector environment, the internal control environment that should be the norm, and how that environment should inhibit the most common types of fraus that occur in the public sector.
