so why do environmentalists oppose it?. This information is meant to let you know about a few of the primary advantages and disadvantages connected with fair pooling so that you can make the choice that's most effective for you.
Advantages: Reasons In Favor of Fair Pooling.
1. Fair pooling allows for “equitable and efficient development of [natural gas] while preventing the drilling of unnecessary wells,” according to Michigan's Department of Environmental Quality – “at the same time, it protects an owner from having his or her oil and gas drained without compensation.”
2. It Prevents Drilling Unnecessary Wells
One additional reason for “Pooling is important in the prevention of drilling of unnecessary and uneconomic wells, which will usually result in physical and economic waste.” is that line comes from an article on efforts to conserve oil and natural gas published in the Harvard Law Review back in 1952.. This has the further advantage of drilling of uneconomic wells., that is certain to protect against making the mistake of creating a negative enivornmental impact with no economic upside..
Cons: Reasons Against fair pooling
1. Forcing Landowners to Leases Their Mineral Rights
If you think about it, it would likely have the affect of force property owners in Pennsylvania to lease their mineral rights to a gas company…”. That is certainly a bad thing, and is actually a motive in avoiding following through.
2. “Some landowners have decided they do not want to lease their mineral rights ... The oil and gas industry would like the General Assembly to overturn the landowners' decisions."
Once again, they have it exactly backwards. Landowners who don’t want to lease their land for Marcellus development will not have to.
The last cause in avoiding is . I strongly advise you to ponder this factor seriously, since it can lead to making the best choices for you and your community, weighing all the facts.if you opt to lease your land anyway.
That's it, the actual benefits and drawbacks of fair pooling. It's not necessarily suitable for all of us, nevertheless it certainly is great for some. So think carefully about the things stated previously and you will be all set in making the proper decision.
