PA Groundwater Recharge Information Available

The Pennsylvania Geological Survey, in cooperation with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), has released Water Resource Report 70, Summary of groundwater-recharge estimates for Pennsylvania.

This report provides an overview of processes affecting recharge in Pennsylvania and summarizes estimates of recharge rates from studies at various scales. Included maps present the patterns of groundwater recharge, precipitation, temperature, and winds across the state, and show the spatial variability of recharge as a percent of precipitation. National, statewide, regional, and local estimates of recharge, based on numerous studies, are compiled to allow comparison of estimates from various sources. The report provides a synopsis of groundwater-recharge estimations and factors in Pennsylvania.
